At WCC, we strive to make our youth group a fun, safe haven for all teens where they can feel loved and accepted as they are, while at the same time, training them up to become mature Christians and tomorrow's church leaders.

Youth Pastor

In our youth group setting we strive to fulfill our purpose according to the great commandment and the great commission, those being: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Evangelism. While we may not tag every event that way, these things are inherent in all we do as followers of Christ. Our Wednesday night program follows this general format:

6:00 pm Dinner
7pm - 9:00pm Youth Group (Grades 6 - 12)

Each session follows a general format - usually divided as equally as possible between the three areas listed below...

Fellowship/Games: We share in a time of visiting as people start to arrive. Then we spend some time playing some games and building community and teamwork as we work together toward a common goal. We like to have everyone possible involved and building each other up as teammates, working together as a body must work together to achieve its goals.

Worship: We then usually head in for a time of praise to the Lord. We lift our voices in song, sometimes with just a guitar, and sometimes with a full-blown band rocking things out. However we spend this time, the goal is to take this opportunity to draw close to the Lord.

Discipleship: Then we take time to sit down together and study God’s Word. We explore different relevant topics each week, and also try to answer any questions we can for young people seeking to know more of God’s will, as revealed to us in God’s Word. Sometimes we then break into small-groups for discussion and to pray for each other.

We also have special events throughout the year like summer camp, winter retreat, and the end of the year thing, and “fun nights.”

In addition we try to plan things to invite our un-churched friends to as a means of peer to peer evangelism.

Our purpose is to teach and reinforce the things that our youth need to be learning and doing as it pertains to God’s Word and His Will; to offer love, encouragement, fellowship, ministry, and a safe place to come and to have fun, and to see that a life for Christ is a good life.

The big guy serving the BIG GUY,
Jason
